Alternative to control and reduce insulin

I am Diabetic for last 10 yrs. Now taking 200 units of insulin. Weight 93 kg. Age 59. Doctor suggested to go for Baratic surgery to bring down/eliminate sugar problem. Any alternative to control and reduce insulin qty.?
